Introduction to Rhodium Creative

At a time when we are all still facing unimaginable challenges and uncertainty, why have we chosen now to set up Rhodium and what do we see as the main changes and opportunities since the start of Covid-19?

We are Rhodium.

Introducing Rhodium Creative, a new strategic and creative collaboration providing expert support delivering innovative digital and marketing campaigns that engage audiences and incite action.

At the end of 2020, we decided to launch a new and exciting collaboration focusing on our passion and expertise in the charity sector. It’s something we've been ambitious about for sometime, and despite the challenging circumstances of 2020, in line with our ethos of wanting to help others, we couldn't think of a more perfect time to begin.

At Rhodium we want to make a real difference, however big or small, and support a world in desperate need of innovation and more importantly action. Between us we have a wealth of knowledge across a range of sectors and wanted to put our experience to good use. Our approach is founded upon the belief that hard work should be made to work for good, evident through our experience of charity, education and brands campaigning for positive change.

An uptake in digital

We know these have been difficult times and every brand/business, no matter what sector, has found 2020 difficult and faced unimaginable challenges and uncertainty. But we know life must continue as we search for what may eventually become the new status quo. We don't know what's around the corner but we do know we can't sit and wait, we have to find new ways to reach supporters, new ways to get our message out and new ways to fundraise. We've seen a demand on digital in every factor, be that relying on meeting people online rather than face to face or using purely digital channels to make our campaign message heard and resonate with the audience. For many this demand on digital has actually opened new doors and opportunities that they may never have discovered before and can now become the building blocks of future strategies.

According to the Charity Digital Skills Report 2020, 28% of charities are developing virtual fundraising events. This year we’ve seen clients who have had to pivot with short notice to transform a physical event or campaign into a digital one. Many of  these have provided fantastic results and unexpected opportunities. One client made the change to run a virtual conference for the first time after hosting large yearly events in central London, and in doing so were able to reach a global audience for the first time as well as doubling their attendees. They are now planning their next multi live conference to run at different times across different time zones.

However despite an increased uptake of digital technology, Just over half (51%) of charities surveyed still don’t have a strategy to execute, largely due to not having the knowledge or lack of finances. So there is still some way to go. We at Rhodium are always exploring  the capabilities of the latest technology and how that can amplify your message to make a deeper impact as well as a wider reach.

A change in behaviours

Over the past year many of us have looked to protect and take care of those around us, be that our elderly parents, local neighbours, key worker heroes or struggling local businesses. People have demonstrated levels of resilience, courage and empathy that they may not have known they had prior to Covid-19. Perhaps we are no longer as switched off from good deed causes as a direct result of the challenges of 2020. We believe this changing attitude has caused a shift in perspective when it comes to hearing about and even acting on worthy causes. Interestingly Gen-z has been key in its response, with research carried out by Enthuse (in September 2020) showing that 84% of 18-24 year olds have made a donation in the past three months. Of all those surveyed 40% of people said their reason for increased giving was because they wanted to support charities that aren’t being supported by the government during the crisis. Local community causes also registered higher than normal, with the pandemic seemingly driving people to look much closer to home when they are thinking about giving.

So despite the difficult times, we are seeing an uptake in digital technologies at a rapid rate combined with changing behaviours and new found respect for those around us. We began Rhodium to support charities and brands adapt and respond to this ever changing world. We are a small team but through our network of expert creatives can be scaled up to deliver small or large projects efficiently.
